FROM VANCOUVER TO VANCOUVER ISLAND - Evelyn has always been a BC artist
A Campbell River / Comox Valley artist, Evelyn M was born in Vancouver, B.C. Her interest in colour really started to take form while studying Interior Design at Douglas College, then, on a trip to Mexico in the mid 80s, she was inspired to go in a completely different direction. Her new works concentrated on line with muted and hazy colours that undulated in and out of her images. While working in her mixed media style of line and sun flickered haze she would switch to acrylics whenever she got the urge to delve into strong colours as acrylics satisfied this need better then watercolours. Evelyn moved to Campbell River and in 2009 she was inspired to combine the strength of colour, the acrylics provided, with the raised sketch technique that her mixed media offered and the result is a fantastically colourful selection of imagery that is controlled within line and form thus giving her new art a complete balance of colour, rhythm and harmony. Evelyn spent 2010 exploring this technique with a variety of imagery and colours and in 2011 she broadened her subject matter to include more whimsical pieces. Evelyn M's art is contemporary with a West Coast Flare and can be seen on her gallery pages. On her NEWS page is current information on shows, events and new pieces. |
